Election Security Commission Urges PA to Issue Bonds, Require Audits and Create Emergency Plans to Protect Elections

The Blue Ribbon Commission on Pennsylvania’s Election Security today released a final report recommending legislators consider bond issuances to help counties purchase voting systems with paper ballots and implement mandatory post-election audits and election emergency plans before the 2020 presidential election.

Pitt Cyber announced three new affiliate scholars today: Rosta Farzan, Maria Kovacs, and Ana Radovic and affiliate practice scholar, Keith Mularski.

Pitt Cyber affiliate scholars are drawn from faculty across the University of Pittsburgh and are selected for their excellence in cyber-themed research and teaching. Affiliate scholars are a source for transdisciplinary collaboration and innovation across Pitt and beyond.

Pitt Cyber announced last week that it is a signatory of the Paris Call for Trust and Security in Cyberspace, a political declaration to signal a global effort to create stability in cybersecurity. The Call has been signed by over 50 countries, including 27 of the 29 NATO members; technology companies like Microsoft, Google, and Intel; and academic and other non-governmental organizations from across the globe.

Pitt Cyber announced three Affiliate Practice Scholars today: Lieutenant Colonel Diana Bishop, Detachment 730 Commander, US Air Force ROTC; attorney Michael Comber; and Leona Mitchell, professor of practice at Pitt’s School of Computing and Information.

Affiliate Practice Scholars from across disciplines and industries will join Pitt Cyber’s Affiliate Scholars, faculty from across the University of Pittsburgh, to collaborate and be a source of practical experience and expertise for research, experiential learning, and discussion.

Christopher R. Deluzio is the Legal and Policy Scholar of the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Cyber Law, Policy, and Security.  In that capacity, his work focuses on supporting the Blue Ribbon Commission on Pennsylvania’s Election Security.  He also serves as Counsel in the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center for Justice at the New York University School of Law, where his work focuses on elections and voting.
