California Passes First-in-the-Nation Data Broker Deletion Tool | Cyberscoop

If signed by Governor Newson, this CA bill would be the first in the U.S. to "create a one-stop-shop for residents to opt out of data broker collection." The data collected and sold by data brokers includes mental health data and GPS data – and, at present, has few consumer protections built in.

Shapiro Implements Automatic Voter Registration in PA | PoliticsPA

Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro announced this week that PA will now be an automatic voter registration state – reaching the 1.7 million Pennsylvanians who are eligible, but not currently registered to vote. 

UNGA high-level week featured a side event entitled "Artificial Intelligence for Accelerating Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals:  Addressing Society’s Greatest Challenges" (video of the event viewable here), including remarks from U.S. Secretary of State Blinken. The upside: remarks during the UN's headliner event focused more on AI's potential to supercharge global development and vague on governance or risk mitigation.
