Pitt Cyber Announces New Affiliate Practice Scholar Brian Geffert

Pitt Cyber announced today that Brian Geffert is joining the institute as an affiliate practice scholar. Geffert is the global chief information security officer of KPMG International, where he leads information security and privacy in support of KPMG’s 120+ Member Firms around the world. 

Geffert was previously a principal in the Security Services Practice at Deloitte LLP. He has published on cloud security, insider threats, and HIPAA compliance, among other topics. He received his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and his BS from Penn State. Geffert is CIPP and CISSP certified and has served as professional faculty at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland Global Campus teaching information security and assurance.

Affiliate Practice Scholars from across disciplines and industries join Pitt Cyber’s Affiliate Scholars, faculty from across the University of Pittsburgh, to collaborate and be a source of practical experience and expertise for research, experiential learning, and discussion.
