Business and Society Conference.  Balancing national security, privacy, and profits: What should Silicon Valley be doing to counter violent extremism? With the rise of the Islamic State, increased incidents of domestic mass shootings, and growing levels of hate speech in Europe, governments and intelligence agencies around the world have sought to enlist Silicon Valley to leverage existing technology and develop creative solutions to solving these pressing issues. What role do technology companies like Facebook, Google, Twitter, and Apple play in the fight against terrorism and its negative effects; what are they doing now; and what are the ethical and business quandaries these companies face as they work with governments and intelligence agencies
