Pittsburgh Data Jam Receives Year of Engagement Support

Pitt Cyber announced today it is part of a team that received Pitt Year of Engagement funding to support “A Collaboration to Bring Data Jam Learning Experience to Underserved High Schools and Develop Curricula to Interest Youth in Learning Data Analytics.” The effort will support the Pittsburgh Data Jam for high school students, which offers training and education to prepare the next generation of big data experts.

The team is led by Judy Cameron, professor of psychiatry and director, Pittsburgh DataWorks, and includes Bryan Nelson, Pitt Department of Statistics; Beth Schwanke, Pitt Cyber; Everett Herman, Pitt Honors College; Pittsburgh DataWorks; Math and Science Collaborative, Allegheny Intermediate Unit; and Lee Cristofano and Emily Smoller, Bethel Park High School.

Dr. Cameron will be featured on Pittwire Live at 12 pm today to discuss the effort.
